Submitting music - How it works
***DUE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF SUBMISSIONS WE'VE RECIEVED LATELY WE HAVE A LARGE BACKLOG OF SUBMISSIONS TO GO THROUGH. PLEASE HANG TOUGH WHILE WE GO THROUGH THEM ALL***
Interested in having your music featured on the site? Have a read through the steps below. If your happy with all that click on the SoundCloud Dropbox incon below . Submit your music, we'll have a listen and get in touch.
ps - We only accept music submission through our Soundcloud Dropbox. If you email us with your songs, you'll get a response saying..."we only accept music submissions through our SoundCloud Dropbox account".
Step 1
Upload your track to our Soundcloud Dropbox, add contact details, genre of song and add any tags (i.e moody, fun) to the personal note. A maximum of 3 tracks is permitted per musician/band.
Note
The website’s pop-up music player is connected to our Soundcloud account and is the best way for musicians to get listened to as it is a standalone player that functions even when the website is closed by a user. The sooner you upload your tracks, the sooner filmmakers can hear your music!
Step 2
Professional and amateur film makers are directed to our website and your music. How do we do this? All films entered into the adventure film festival must have the permission of the musicians whose music they use. Our site helps create a meeting place for this to happen.
Example.
You are an amateur film maker. You have made a short film about surfing in Ireland, which you wish to enter into the What If, Why Not? Festival. You need music for the soundtrack. To enter the film into the festival you must have the permission of the musician whose music you use. One way to get this music is to browse through the list of music submissions we have on our website.
Step 3
A film maker hears a track of yours which they wish to use in their film. OR, they don’t hear any music that suits their film but they dig your sound and think perhaps you can compose a score or track for their film. To get in contact with you they simply click on the ‘Request Music’ button next to your music. This brings up an online form which they fill out, outlining what their film is about and how they want to use your music.
Step 4
We then send this form to you for your approval. If you approve the use of your track in their film, you then contact them directly using the contact details provided by the film maker.
Stuff to note
- A maximum of 3 tracks per musician/band can be uploaded to our Soundcloud Dropbox. We will review this at a later date, but for the moment it’s capped at 3.
- All music uploaded to our Dropbox is made available to film makers for free so long as your music is used non-commercially. However, if a filmmaker contacts you through our site and is willing to pay to use a track or have you score a soundtrack then whatever financial arrangements, if any, you may come to are between you and the film maker. Not us.
- All film makers who submit films to the festival are obligated to reference any music they use in the credits of their films.
- We don’t make any money off this. We simply act as a platform to help musicians and film makers connect.
